Natural Products
One thing we have found over the years, natural products are NOT created equal; perhaps because some people have an odd definition of what natural or pure means.
Cloverleaf Farm is proud to formulate genuinely pure, 100 % all natural and organic products right here on the farm.
There are however, other companies and websites out there that are claiming to be all natural, but when it comes right down to it they aren’t.
I am constantly on the web doing research, keeping up to date on current herbal info, and writing herbal articles. Several times I have bumped into a site that use use fragrance oils. The fur on my neck actually stands up when I read this. Fragrance oils are not in the least bit natural! They are chemically produced in a lab for. There is no such thing as strawberry or lilac essential oil. If read the ingredients on a natural product and find “fragrance” or “fragrance oil” listed in there, it is NOT a natural product.
I happen to come across a site today, that was suppose to be selling a 100 % all natural acne cream. I figured I would check it out. While I was reading down the list, I noticed two things. One; the list was in the botanical name (Latin plant name) and two; when I got the last ingredient I was horrified. Vaseline. They actually use Vaseline as the base for their acne cream. Why would a company actually think that Vaseline (other wise known as Petroleum Jelly) was all natural. Petroleum jelly is just that…petroleum. Petroleum is a product of crude oil. Granted crude oil comes from the Earth, but that in no way makes petroleum jelly natural. Petroleum does not occur in nature! It is manufactured from crude oil! Do you really want to put that on your skin? Petroleum is not healthy for your skin.
Anyway, that one got me really steaming mad!
Back to the botanical or Latin name. Did you take Latin in school? Well, most people don’t. So, why use the Latin botanical names when listing the ingredients. Is it to add that air of mystery, or they trying to hide something. I happen to know most Latin names for plants, but the average Jane, does not. Example; the herbs apis cera, calendula officinalis, passiflora incarnarta, and rosa damascena. Those are the Latin names for beeswax, calendula, passion flower, and rose. Why not just use the common names along with the Latin names, so people understand what they are putting on their skin?
