Just a Tease of Spring
My, what a wonderful day it was here at Cloverleaf Farm. The sun was shinning bright, and the thermometer read 50 degrees. It was warm enough for just a sweatshirt, and it felt good. I wore my summer hat.
The cats were frolicking in the barn, and I stood in front of the big pile of snow and thought “there are still carrots out there”. If you are lucky, the moles found some else’s garden to camp out in during the cold months of winter. We plant a hardy carrot that can winter over underground, but they don’t last if the moles get to them.  In spring, we have fresh, delicious, juicy carrots. They are a bit sweeter than the ones we picked last summer, but tasty just the same. We juice them, and add them to our apple juice we canned last fall.
Ah, but we know it is still Februrary here in New Hampshire. The weather today was  just a tease of what is to come. The forecast tomorrow is bitter cold again. The summer hat will hang on it’s hook a little while longer, and the sweatshirt will be replaced with my L.L. Bean winter coat. Just the same, the spring tease of warm weather was nice.
