Hattie McDaniel Update

Hattie McDaniel is settling in nicely. After just a little over 24 hours, she is coming out from behind the chest freezer when we come into the room. This became her new hiding place after I found her behind the door of the three seater.

Every few hours, I would go out and sit in the room with her. This is our “cat therapy”. She didn’t really want to be touched, but she would come out and we would “chat”. She would sniff my hand, but I could not touch her. I also brought in Clark, so she would see our interactions, and have company. Clark was part of our “cat therapy”.

By the end of yesterday, she was not only allowing me to touch and pet her, she was about to climb in my lap, and then thought twice about it. That is okay. I thought it would take weeks just to be able to pet her, so she went far beyond my expectations.

Today, we will continue “cat therapy”.
