Good Night to Snuggle
Michael went down to the root cellar to check on the squashes. Not only had most of them rotted, we also found out the furnace had some issues. We called the furnace repair man, and he got here in about an hour. He didn’t have good news for us either. We have a choice of replacing the furnace for $4000 or so, or fixing the one we have for about $1000. The cheaper route is only going to get us through a year or two, but that is the choice we made. It seems the furnace has a hole in it. We were lucky the house didn’t go up in flames. He shut down the furnace. We realized we had to do some quick work about getting some heat in here. Our wood supply was down to about a day. Off to the hardware store we went to buy some electric heaters. Luckily they had two of the kind we were looking for. The ones that look like old radiators
Once home, we scrambled to find some wood. It would seem that everyone is out of wood, or their wood is green. Can’t burn green wood. We had nightmares of freezing to death. Finally, a gentleman called back, and let us know he had a cord for us. Thank the Gods in Heaven. We weren’t going to freeze.
We brought the mattress downstairs, and camped out in the living room. The dogs love it. They get to have a comfy place to sleep all day now.
