DIY Natural Carpet Freshener
Looking for an alternative to chemical carpet and room fresheners? We’ve got an easy recipe for you! Most store bought carpet fresheners contain some form of chemicals that can seep into your rugs, and then produce toxic fumes. Our recipe is easy, all natural, and simple to use. This recipe is safe for pets and children. (Be sure the pets do not lick the mix)
You will need:
Baking soda (about 6 ounces)
2 tsp fine salt
10 drops orange essential oil
8 ounce canning jar
Orange peels ground to a powder (optional)
Place the baking soda into the jar. Add the orange essential oil. Shake the contents well to make sure it all mixes together. Let sit for at least 24 hours to get the maximum scent. Sprinkle onto carpets and let sit for up to 30 minutes. Vacuum as usual. The room will smell deliciously fresh!
Don’t like orange? You can add peppermint, lavender, or any other favorite essential oil. Remember, don’t use fragrance oils. They are not natural. If you use peppermint, or lavender, you can add powdered herb to the mix.
