There’s Gold In The Walls

While Michael was busy doing the farmers market, I was a bit bored. The shop was slow, and the gardens were all set for the day. So, I decided to see what was behind the plywood walls in the kitchen. I took the crowbar , and gently lifted it from the wall. When I pulled it back, there it was…gold.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. I knew that I had to get that plywood off. I got out the bigger crowbar, and started to yank. One piece came off, and the gold was exposed. Real gold! No, not the nugget kind of gold. The original tongue and grove wainscotting! We figure it must be 100 years old. It was so beautiful. The original yellow color was scratched and dented, but it so was beautiful. I continued to tear off the plywood, and by the time Michael got home from market, the beautiful wainscotting was all exposed. We sat there at supper and wondered why anyone would want to cover it all up. All it needed was a coat or two of paint.
We uncovered the past, and brought it into the future.
