Still Waters Run Deep

Just a few days ago we checked the basements for water. There was none. Now, just a few days later our pumps are hard at work sucking the water to the outside world. Luckily, we don’t have as much water coming in as last year. When we had the pantry / shop insulated last spring, the man went down to insulate the floor, and found 4 feet of standing water.  Being that there was no pump in that basement, we scrambled to find one. It seems that there was a run on pumps at all the local hardware stores. We wound up traveling an hour to find one. We later found out from the Johnson’s, that someone must have stolen the pump because when they sold the house with the pump intact. That really didn’t surprise us since the “flipper” who bought the house from the Johnson’s had raped the house of many a things including the old shutters. We would love to have put those back on.
The pumps are running, the dogs are napping, and I guess it is time to get back to the kitchen. Haven’t worked on that in a few days, and I can hear it calling my name.
